MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include, but not limited to the following)
Facilitate children’s social and emotional growth and development through the understanding and use of classroom behavioral management policies and guidelines.
Guide children’s learning and problem solving abilities, in a variety of activities involving fundamental language development, reading, number concepts, exploration of nature, arts and crafts, music and recreational programs, in the classroom, on the playground, in individual and in small/large group settings.
Assist in providing instruction in citizenship, basic communication skills and other general elements of the course.
Assist in maintaining a flexible program and class environment favorable to
learning and personal growth.
Assist in individual and small group instruction.
Assist in the preparation and distribution of books and materials.
Assist in classroom inventories of supplies and equipment.
Assist with maintenance of student files, enrollment and exit data, attendance information and records, children’s assessments and progress reports, and parent conferences on children’s development.
Perform daily health checks and log information.

Assist in the completion of student intake and exit forms.
Complete incident and accident reports.
Participate in field trips.
Attend staff meetings.
May perform nutrition planning by age of child utilizing instructions provided by parents; log any allergies and children’s likes and dislikes.
May write out doctor’s readmit forms for child to see a doctor in collaboration with Child Development Site Supervisor/Teacher and Child Development Master Teacher.
May contact parents on issues pertaining to the class in collaboration with Child Development Site Supervisor/Teacher and Child Development Master Teacher.
Some positions in this classification may require the ability to speak, read and write a second language, as well as English.
May prepare and serve snacks.
Conduct and monitor programs designed for young children
Lead children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing craft materials
Arrange rooms and furniture for lunch and rest periods
Assist with proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
Submit written observations on children to supervisor
Assist supervisor in keeping records
Maintain day care equipment and assist in housekeeping duties.
